Daft Punk x Random Access Memories

Daft Punk is a French duo who created Harder.Better.Faster.Stronger (the song Kanye West’s Stronger samples) and snagged the 2014 Album of the Year Grammy. That’s all the bio you need for you to check out one of my favorite albums, Random Access Memories.

I was going through my list of albums in my room and saved on my Spotify and I chose an album that I get down to heavy. I was introduced to Random Access Memories in Fall 2013 by a friend of mine over hookah. MCHG (Magna Carta Holy Grail) was still in heavy rotation. After BBC played, Doing It Right came through the speakers. I requested to hear more of the album and got reacquainted with Daft Punk.

The reason I love this album so much is because it transcends all basic notions of music. Even though it’s dubbed Electronica/House it has nuances of funk and jazz. The album is a work of art crafted by the two French angels. Each song is a composition of perfection.

Recognizable songs:

Lose Yourself to Dance (ft. Pharrell)

I know you don’t get a chance to take a break this often
I know your life is speeding and it isn’t stopping
Here take my shirt and just go ahead and wipe up all the
Sweat, sweat, sweat

Yes anything Pharrell touches is gold. This song is so fun and funky. The guitar chords (not sure if that’s the correct musical term so someone correct me) make me sway back and forth in my office chair like beach waves. Pharrell’s airy falsetto and the techno voice urging me to come on to the beat of the music is perfection.

Get Lucky (ft. Pharrell)

Again Pharrell is on it. It’s perfect.

Favorite songs: Give Life Back to Music, Beyond, Doin’ It Right (whole album pretty much)

You really need to get into this album if you haven’t heard it before. This album is for EVERYONE. I don’t have one bad thing to say about it. If you are already hip to Daft Punk, let me know that too! Share on Facebook, Twiiter, IG….ANYWHERE!
