Today's Who Dat Wednesday is about an artist I've known for more than a decade. I met C. Metro in middle school when were both overcoming our awkward phases. Nowadays I'm writing about independent music and he's making it. What better way to catch up than with a mini interview about his upcoming project?
Note: This is a testament to artists that use my submission box the correct way.
Q: Even though I'm familiar with your music career, please introduce yourself to my readers!
C. Metro: I'm C. Metro. I'm from Columbia, SC and I graduated from the University of South Carolina-Aiken with a degree in Marketing with a concentration in Fine Arts. I don't like to flex my music muscle when I introduce myself to others. I like to network so I don't mind striking up conversations with others. I have a lot to offer people around me, particularly other artists.
Q: I have a popular post that talks about accountability in reference to artists and consumers. How do you hold yourself and your music accountable? How do you hold your fans accountable?
C. Metro: I strive to create music that sounds like C. Metro at all times. I don't listen to a lot of current music and I tend to shy away from trends. That's what pushes me to give my fans the best product. As far as holding my fans accountable, I make sure to remind them I'm human. When they learn I'm approachable it's easier for them to receive my music the way I intend.
Q: What does "making it" mean to you?
C. Metro: When I'm in a place to help other artists reach their fullest potential. I'm already working towards that daily. Living life, growing, and maturing has allowed me to become someone that can create and offer expertise simultaneously.
Q: Let's talk about the All Mine video shoot. What was it like shooting in NYC?
C. Metro: Oh it was an experience! It was my first time traveling outside of the south. It took five days to record everything. The most memorable experience was getting the song played at a house party where no one knew me. The people went nuts when the beat dropped. That's one of the best feelings I've ever felt.
